Brad Purvis Devotional
Greetings Men of the Rock and this call of encouragement is for all of you who are working hard to walk in the steps Jesus Christ has walked before us. I hope this note strengthens you and helps give you vigor for your day.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
I just prayed that the Holy Spirit would give me the words He wants you to hear where ever you are and whatever you’re going thru.
I was reading Psalm 119:9-11 this morning and suggest you too listen to what it says:
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
This Psalm gives us two very important instructions:
#1 Read God’s Word – consider starting out your day reading the Bible before the hustle bustle of the day begins. Try and remember – no Bible, no breakfast! “The vigor your our spiritual life will be inexactproportion to the place held by the Bible in our life and thoughts.” – one of the IronMen books.
#2 Memorize God’s Word. Hide it in your heart. I remember Kevin “Amen” Jones had a difficult time memorizing scripture. My suggestion was that since the Word of God is alive and active, the Holy Spirit will help. After all, it is the Holy Spirit who was sent as our Helper and Counselor, right? And He wants us to memorize His Word.
In Iron Men, we have a mission statement:
“To rise up, equip and multiply an army of men to be Godly and faithful servant leaders through bible teaching, real life biblical application and accountability relationships.”
Gentlemen, there’s a battle going on and as I’ve heard Pastor Darren Carrington say : “this ain’t no cruise ship, this is a battleship.” We need to stick together and BE MEN OF THE ROCK!
In Hebrews 10:24-25 it says “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
God will match your efforts!
Brad
